Deb Moreland Coastal Kids Director

Pastor Hank once said, "Kids are not clay to be molded; they are God's creation to be unfolded." That's the job of the Coastal Kids Director—to come alongside parents and families to empower them to help children come to know God and grow in Christ.

Deb’s Story

I grew up knowing about God but it wasn’t until I was in my early 20’s that I started to really know God and realize what having a personal relationship with Jesus means. My husband and I both accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior and got baptized together while attending a church much like Coastal in southeast Georgia. Almost 20 years later, I can honestly say that I have grown tremendously in my personal walk with Christ since being at Coastal. In fact, the primary reason my family decided to remain in Virginia Beach after my husband retired from the military in 2012 was to remain with our Coastal family.

I graduated from the University of Central FL with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. Prior to having enough children of my own to fill a classroom in my own home, I was an elementary school teacher. When I stopped working to be a stay at home mom, I felt an emptiness that I prayed for God to fill. I couldn't have asked for a more fulfilling job than my current one as the Coastal Kids Director. There is no greater feeling than knowing you are planting, watering, and growing seeds for God’s Kingdom. We have an outstanding group of children and families in our children’s ministry and I am blessed to be a part of this growing ministry.

I’m married to Mike and mother to Ally, Tyler, Bryan, Jayden, Kolby, Zachary, Mycah, and Elyjah. I enjoy crafting, working out (especially Zumba), playing board games, watching my boys play baseball, going to the movies, planning events, and watching Hallmark shows.
